Why is a GYN treating neuropathy?
As a physician, I have always been interested in helping patients improve their quality of life.
Many of the patients I care for are navigating changes associated with aging, diabetes, hormonal changes, reduced activity, chronic pain, or other health conditions that can affect mobility, strength, and overall wellness.
Neuropathy does not simply affect nerves—it can affect confidence, independence, sleep, exercise, and daily function.
When I learned about emerging technologies designed to support muscle function, circulation, and nerve health, I felt they could offer another option for patients looking for non-surgical, non-drug approaches to improving their symptoms.
What is neuropathy?
Neuropathy is a condition involving damage or dysfunction of nerves.
Common symptoms may include:
- numbness in the hands or feet
- tingling or “pins and needles”
- burning sensations
- weakness
- balance problems
- reduced sensation
- discomfort while walking
- muscle fatigue
Neuropathy can occur for many reasons, including diabetes, aging, injury, chronic inflammation, certain medications, and other medical conditions.
How does the treatment work?
EMSCULPT technology uses high-intensity electromagnetic stimulation to create powerful muscle contractions that cannot typically be achieved through voluntary exercise alone.
These contractions may help:
- improve muscle strength
- increase circulation
- support nerve function
- improve mobility
- enhance muscle performance
- promote healthier neuromuscular activity
By improving the communication between muscles and nerves, treatment may help support better function and symptom improvement in appropriate patients.
Treatments are completely non-invasive and require no surgery, injections, or downtime.
Who may benefit?
This treatment may be appropriate for individuals experiencing:
- diabetic neuropathy
- age-related neuropathy
- numbness or tingling in the legs or feet
- weakness associated with neuropathy
- balance concerns
- reduced mobility
- chronic nerve-related discomfort
During your consultation, Dr. Sutter will review your symptoms and medical history to determine whether treatment may be appropriate for your specific situation.
What should I expect?
Treatment sessions are performed comfortably in our office.
Most patients require a series of treatments, depending on the severity and duration of symptoms.
Many patients appreciate that treatments are non-invasive, require no recovery time, and can easily fit into a busy schedule.
As with any medical treatment, results vary from person to person.
Helping You Stay Active and Independent
Mobility, strength, balance, and confidence are important parts of healthy aging.
Our goal is to help patients remain active, independent, and engaged in the activities they enjoy for as long as possible.
