Premenstural Syndrome (PMS) is what we call it when that time of the month comes with mood swings, fatigue, and other inconvenient symptoms like food cravings or bloating.
Not everyone experiences PMS, but up to 80% (maybe even 90%) of women and people with periods have unpleasant symptoms associated with their period. It is most common for women in their 30s.
PMDD however, is much rarer. It’s a severe form of PMS that can be debilitating. Women with PMDD often skip work, school, or other social events and struggle with daily life when experiencing symptoms.
